Show Notes

In today’s episode of the Parents' Rights Podcast, the K-12 education landscape in the U.S. is brought into focus. The story starts with a troubling event at a Tigard-Tualatin school where a boy attacked a girl. This incident stirs up a debate: some believe schools are muddling the waters by teaching about many genders and ignoring basic biology. Switching scenes, we hear about the "Banned Book Week" by the American Library Association, a movement against hiding books in schools and libraries.

Over in Wisconsin, parents have a win. A legal decision says schools can't let students change their gender identity without telling their folks. In Ohio, a different kind of battle rages. Some students believe "Anti-Harassment" rules are silencing their voices and clashing with their beliefs.

The podcast also gives us a peek into the changing world of public schools. The big bosses (like teachers' unions) are gaining power, and everyday folks, especially parents, feel left out. But not all hope is lost! The episode ends with a chat with Jackie Mendez from Evington, Virginia. She's a local hero, keeping a close eye on her school board and reminding us that change often starts from the ground up. Through these stories, the podcast paints a picture of the challenges and triumphs in today's U.S. schools.

Jackie talks with Suzanne about her effort to propose November as Parents’ Rights in Education Month and about her efforts to run for her local School Board.  To learn more about JACKIE MENDEZ, please visit her campaign website at jmendez.org.
